2022 Female Student-Athlete President's Award Named

Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) was named the 2022 Female Student-Athlete President's Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony. The President's Award is given to the student-athlete who best displays leadership, sportsmanship, and the overall effort to help support Goldey-Beacom Athletics. Representing the Women's Volleyball team, Spendlove displayed each quality to its fullest throughout her career as a student-athlete, and was nominated for the award by Goldey-Beacom's President, Dr. Colleen Perry Keith.

2021 Men's Student-Athlete President's Award Winner Named

Marshall Awtry (Hockessin, DE.) was named the 2021 Men's Student-Athlete President's Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony, the first in-person ceremony held since 2019. The President's Award is given to the student-athlete who best displays leadership, sportsmanship, and the overall effort to help support Goldey-Beacom Athletics. Representing the Men's Baseball team, Awtry displayed each quality to its fullest throuhgout his career as a student-athlete at the College. Awtry was nominated for the award by Goldey-Beacom's President, Dr. Colleen Perry Keith.

Sarah Round (Northampton, UK.) was named the 2021 Female Student-Athlete President's Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony, the first in-person ceremony held since 2019. The President's Award is given to the student-athlete who best displays leadership, sportsmanship, and the overall effort to help support Goldey-Beacom Athletics. Representing the Women's Basketball team, Round displayed each quality to its fullest throughout her career as a student-athlete, and was nominated for the award by Goldey-Beacom's President, Dr. Colleen Perry Keith.

33 Goldey-Beacom College Student-Athletes Awarded Chi Alpha Sigma Honors

A new tradition has begun in the Goldey-Beacom College Athletic's Department: The awarding of Chi Alpha Sigma honors to Lightning student-athletes. At the 2022 Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony, eligible student-athletes were honored with induction into the the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma, in recognition of excellence both on and off the field. Eligiblity requirements for the honors include good citizenship, moral character and friendship as well as at least a 3.4 GPA and having completed at least five semesters. Highest Individual GPA Recipients Honored at Goldey-Beacom College's Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony

Two student atheletes were awarded with the Highest Individual GPA amongst all Lightning teams at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony. Sarah Round (Northampton, England), representing the Women's Basketball team and Patrick Stolze (Obersulm, Germany), representing the Men's Soccer team earned the highest cumulative GPA of all female and male athletes in the 2021-22 academic year.

Over 100 members of the College Community, including student-athletes, administrators, staff, and faculty, were on hand to attend Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony. 2022 Honors Day Student Speaker Announced

Goldey-Beacom College and its 2022 Honors Day Committee is thrilled to announce that Maria Alejandra Mariale Bruno Taguaruco of the 2022 Graduating Class will be its Student Speaker at the College's Honors Day Ceremony. Bruno was selected through a process led by the College's Associate Provost and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Joel Worden, and will represent the 2022 class during the Honors Day Ceremony at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Bruno, from Maracay, Venezuela, is the sole member of the inaugural graduating class for the Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media with a minor in Marketing Management. Additionally, she is a member of the Lightning's tennis team.

Goldey-Beacom College Honors Highest Cumulative GPA in Athletics

Goldey-Beacom College honored the 2022 Women's Soccer Team with the award for the Highest Cumulative GPA at its annual Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony. The award was presented to Head Coach Dan Frick and the Women's Soccer team by Director of Athletics, Jeremy Benoit, and Provost/VP for Academic Affairs, Alison White.

2022 Undergraduate Keynote Speaker Announced

Goldey-Beacom College and its 2022 Undergraduate Commencement Speaker Committee is thrilled to announce that Amanda Garcia of the 2022 Graduating Class will be its Student Keynote Speaker at the College's 135th Commencement Ceremony! Garcia was selected through a process led by the College's Chief Information Officer, Peter Rysavy, and will represent the 2022 class during the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 29, 2022. Garcia was born in Harlingen, Texas and moved to Delaware in elementary school. She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from John Dickinson High School in 2018 with an International Diploma. In the Winter of 2018, Amanda transferred to Goldey-Beacom College and enrolled to pursue a major in English with a concentration in legal studies. Her mother was an alumnae and spoke positively of her experiences which motivated Amanda to transfer. Notable Awards that Amanda Garcia has received include the Hockessin Lion's Club Thomas P. Bentley Scholarship and Community Service Award, GBC President's List, and Gold Level Certificate of Multiliteracy in the State of Delaware. After graduation, Amanda intends to continue her academic journey at Widener Law School in the Fall of 2022!
