The scholarships were presented to Ruggieri and Sanchez by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro and Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch. The awards celebrates the distinguised career of Dr. Hatem Khalil, who contributed generously of his time as a consultant and advisor in the early years of the College's computer science department. Ruggieri and Sanchez were nominated for the award for demonstrating excellence in the area of information technology.

Avery Morris (Bear, DE) was named the recipient of the James Julian Scholarship at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The scholarship was presented to Short by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro and Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch. The Julian Scholarship was created by professional colleagues of the late James Julian, who founded the Delaware Contractors Association and served as a member of the board of the Delaware River and Bay Authority for more than 25 years. Morris was nominated for the award by demonstrating vitality, drive, and commitment that characterized the remarkable career of James Julian.

Edmond Jones Awarded Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship

Edmond Jones (Paterson, NJ), was awarded a Leadership Scholarship through the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarship initiative for the 2022-23 academic year. Jones was presented with the award by demonstrating care and service in the previous year in his community, leadership, work ethic, and teamwork all while enrolling as a full-time student-athlete and being named to the Goldey-Beacom College President's and Dean's List in multiple semesters.

Kelli Hain (Womelsdorf, PA) was named the recipient of the Marjorie F. Olazagasti Scholarship at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The scholarship was presented to Hain by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro; Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch; and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mark Olazagasti. The award honors a lifetime commitment to others shown by Marjorie F. Olazagasti. Hain was nominated for the award by demonstrating selflessness and personal sacrifice, while balancing the demans of work and life, and a commitment to family.

Collin Mangan (Middletown, DE) was named the recipient of the Milton Olazagasti Scholarship at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The scholarship was presented to Mangan by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro; Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch; and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mark Olazagasti. The scholarship commemorates the remarkable career of Milton R. Olazagasti, who played a significant role in building the GBC men's soccer program during his years of service as head coach. Mangan was nominated for the award by showing the same commitment to campus life, sportsmanship, and respectful conduct that characterized the life of coach Olazagasti.

Douglas, a former president of Goldey-Beacom College.

Quill who was a retired president of Wilmington Trust, long-time friend of Goldey-Beacom, and trustee of the College from 1993 to 2007.

Goldey-Beacom College 2022 Levin Scholarship Recipient Announced

Patrick McCloskey (Wilmington, DE) was named the recipient of the Levin Scholarship at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The scholarship was presented to McCloskey by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro and Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch. The Levin Scholarship fund was established by the friends and family of Diane S. Levin, a long time trustee of Goldey-Beacom and champion of education. Mrs. Levin was a co-founder of Happy Harry's and the Delaware Kidney Fund, and tirelessly served as a volunteer to improve the lives of all Delawareans. McCloskey was nominated for the award for demonstrating personal strength and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as a commitment to career excellence exemplified by Mrs. Levin.

Taylor Verchick (Newark, DE) was named the recipient of the Anne Quillen Teipelke Scholarship at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The scholarship was presented to Verchick by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro and Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch. Anne Quillen Teipelke ('56) was the third women in Delaware to be awarded the CPA, was a former President of the Delaware State CPA Association, and was a board member on many non-profits. Verchick was nominated for the award for demonstrating the same discipline and integrity which characterized the remarkable career of Teipelke.

Austin Walls (Newark, DE) was named the recipient of the James E. Yiaski CPA Memorial Scholarship at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The scholarship was presented to Walls by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro and Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch. Established in 2018, the scholarship was created to honor GBC Alumnus James E. Yiaski, who was known for his loyalty, kindness and strong sense of giving back to the community. Walls was nominated for the award as a result of exemplifying these characteristics.

Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV) was named the 2022 DeGrange Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The award was presented to Spendlove by Vice President for Student Affairs & Athletics, Dr. Charles Hammond and Director of Residence and Student Life, Jocelyn Moses. The DeGrange Award is named after Jane DeGrange who was a former instructor, Dean of Students, and immensely popular Vice President for Student Affairs. Spendlove was nominated for the award in recognition of good academic standing, exceptional college dedication, spirit, involvement in extracurricular programs, self-motivation, ambition, and innovation.

Lindsay Draper (Newark, DE) was named the recipient of the Ann Kneavel Alpha Chi Scholarship at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The scholarship was presented to Draper by Executive Vice President, Kristine Santomauro and Senior Advisor, Amanda Birch. The award celebrates the illustrious 29-year career of Professor Ann Kneavel, who helped establish Goldey-Beacom's Alpha Chi Beta Chapter in 1984, which is a national honor's society.

Anthony Dina (Bear, DE) was named the 2022 Fulmer Leadership Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The award was presented to Dina by Vice President for Student Affairs & Athletics, Dr. Charles Hammond and Director of Residence and Student Life, Jocelyn Moses. The Fulmer Leadership Award is named for the late Clarence Fulmer, who was a life-long teacher and former president of Goldey-Beacom College, as well as a lifetime trustee. Dina was nominated for the Fulmer Leadership Award as a result of his outsanding leadership and accomplishment in college-related endeavors.

Natalia Richards (Jim Thorpe, PA) was named the 2022 Kiwanis A. Raymond Jackson Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The award was presented to Richards by Vice President for Student Affairs & Athletics, Dr. Charles Hammond and Director of Residence and Student Life, Jocelyn Moses. The Kiwanis A. Raymond Jackson Award is named after the late A. Raymond Jackson, a former executive vice president who served both Goldey and Beacom Colleges for more than 50 years. Jackson was a memeber of the Kiwanis club for many years, and Richards was presented the award as a result of her strong commitment to community service and equally strong commitment to her academic program.

Sarah Round (Northampton, UK) was named the 2022 Lewis Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The award was presented to Round by Vice President for Student Affairs & Athletics, Dr. Charles Hammond and Director of Residence and Student Life, Jocelyn Moses. The Lewis Award is named after the late William Cleaver Lewis, who was a community activist, former trustee of the College, longtime member of the Wilmington school board, and recipient of the Josiah Marvel Cup. Round was nominated for the award as a result of her oustanding performance in one or more services for the betterment of the Goldey-Beacom College community.

Chari Konomi (Helsingborg, Sweden) was named the 2022 Miller Award winner at Goldey-Beacom College's 2022 Honors Day ceremony. The award was presented to Konomi by Vice President for Student Affairs & Athletics, Dr. Charles Hammond and Director of Residence and Student Life, Jocelyn Moses. The Miller Award is named for former Goldey-Beacom College President Jay W. Miller, and was awarded to Konomi in recognition of personal growth, scholarship, maturity, service to the College, evidence of good citizenship, humility, and initiative.

Bruno was nominated for the Larson Award, presented by Sister Cities International, for promoting peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation to one individual, one community at a time.
