Wilmington, DE - Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) is pleased to announce Dr. Erin Lee Kelly as the recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Joel Worden, provost and vice president for academic affairs, presented the award during GBC's graduation ceremony.

"Goldey-Beacom College is a student-centered institution, and we prize excellence in the classroom," said Dr. Worden. "A challenging, supportive and innovative classroom experience is what shapes student knowledge and skills and prepares them for a rewarding future."

This is an annual award wherein faculty peers nominate a fellow professor to recognize their outstanding achievement in teaching at the college. Many student comments were read including 'my favorite professor helps beyond the classroom; there's not enough words to describe the passion and support this professor shows students.'

Dr. Kelly humbly accepted the award noting that her teaching philosophy is like the quote: 'students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.'

"I truly care about every one of my students, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do this job," said Dr. Kelly. "It's always the small little things that you have to remember along your journey. So please engage in little acts of kindness, because community is bound by connection, and the little things help connection."

In December 2024, Dr. Kelly was awarded a Fulbright Specialist Award for the 2024-2027 tenure. She was selected by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and joined a distinguished roster of U.S. academics and professionals committed to fostering international collaboration and expertise.
