Goldey-Beacom College's Dr. Worden Inducted into University of Delaware English Hall of Fame

Wilmington, DE (09/23/2025) — Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) proudly announces that Dr. Joel Worden, Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor of English and Communication, will be inducted into the 2025 University of Delaware (UD) English Department Hall of Fame. The celebration will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in Gore Hall 104 on the UD campus in Newark, Delaware, with a reception to follow in Gore Lobby.
The UD English Department Hall of Fame recognizes distinguished alumni and rising stars who exemplify the broad possibilities of an English degree and who have achieved excellence in their professional lives. Dr. Worden joins an accomplished group of inductees in this year's class.
A member of the GBC academic community since 2005, Dr. Worden oversees academic programs, faculty development, accreditation and student success initiatives. He earned both his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Delaware after completing his undergraduate degree at Houghton University. His career reflects a deep commitment to teaching and learning, with many years of classroom instruction before stepping into senior academic leadership.
Beyond higher education, Dr. Worden has served as an executive speech coach, writer and communication consultant for a range of organizations, including a Chicago-based publishing company, Amtrak, the State of Delaware and an international snack food company. His lifelong dedication to the power of language continues to shape his work, fostering innovation and collaboration across the College and ensuring that students have the tools to thrive.
